Money blocks are self-limiting beliefs we have around money and the creation of money in our lives. Do you ever feel like you’re working your fingers to the bone but don’t seem to be generating any more inflow of money? Are you burnt out and overwhelmed wondering how on earth can you double your business when it’s impossible to double the hours you’re working?
You could have a money block, or blocks, around your beliefs about working so hard.
Turn your mind back to the 80’s, if you can, if you’re not old enough then look at your parents. People had to work super hard to set up businesses, everything had to be done by the business owner, things weren’t automated the way they are now, and people needed big investment to get things off the ground. If you didn't have investment, it’s likely your business wasn’t going anywhere fast.
We’re not saying people don’t have to work hard now, however, it was different back then. Nowadays, setting up a business is so much easier, you don’t have to do everything yourself, you don’t need a huge investment, and there is so much technology available.
What is your belief system around money?
If you’re burning out, have a look at your belief system. Do you believe you have to work harder to make money? Perhaps you grew up being told money doesn’t grow on trees, that you have to work hard to make money. Can you change those beliefs?
If you’re experiencing burn out, could you start looking after yourself more? Take time for self care, because you can’t work when the effects of burnout catch up with you, and burnout can take you out of the game for a long period of time, leaving you incapable of earning. Put things in place now to increase your self care and prolong your ability to earn.
Are you over complicating things trying to do everything yourself?
Perhaps you’re overcomplicating your business, trying to do everything yourself when you could outsource some of your business tasks. If you have Pocket PA we can help you take away the stress from your admin leaving you with more energy to input self care into your life, or more energy to expand and grow your business.
Do you feel guilty about your money and over deliver?
Maybe you feel guilty for earning good money and feel you have to justify your earnings, maybe this manifests as over delivering. Do you give your clients an hour and a half of your time when the appointment is an hour?
This will also lead to burn out, and it’s ok to be strict with your time boundaries. If you say an hour, stick to an hour and see how much more energy you’ll have, plus it frees up time to earn more, especially if you create resources for passive income.
Are you trying to do too many projects?
Perhaps you have too many projects on the go at one time, spreading yourself thin and not focusing enough on getting one task done. Set yourself some time boundaries. It’s ok to have multiple projects, but if you don’t complete one and get it out into the public domain, people can’t give you money for it.
Business isn’t effortless, your business won’t grow without you putting in effort, but you can make it easier by putting your effort into the right channels.
Burnout can also happen if you’re under charging your clients and confusing philanthropy with business.
Are you undercharging?
Do you find yourself thinking or saying - ‘It’s not about the money, I just want to help people?’ or ‘how can I charge money for this service when it helps so many people over their illness, or issues, or children?’
It’s easy to get caught up in the wanting to give, but you can’t pour from an empty cup. You can’t help people if you’re burnt out and you can’t help people if you don’t have the money. It’s ok to do both, earn money and help. Money is an exchange of energy and if you’re the one always giving, you will empty your cup before you can make a real difference to some people.
If you charge the right amount for your service that leaves you with extra money, you don’t have to work as hard, and you’ll have the time and energy to create resources to help those who can’t afford your services.
You’re allowed to make money and help people
There is someone out there for every budget, don’t undercharge yourself by trying to help everyone. Be clear on who you’re targeting and if you want to volunteer in your newly acquired spare time, because you have the energy and can afford to, then great!
You can help people and make money - in fact you’ll probably help more people the more money you can make.
You’re allowed to create abundance in your business. It’s safe for you to have more than you need, it’s safe for you to create wealth to help others as well as yourself.
Are your fears derailing your success?
Another way you could be sabotaging your business is allowing unconscious fears to derail your action. You may not be aware that you have any fears that are stopping you from earning more or expanding your business growth.
Ask yourself, do you ever feel a vague uneasiness about an area of your business? Maybe you feel uneasy about handling larger sums of money, or paying bigger tax bills.
Perhaps the thought of becoming more visible makes you feel uneasy, or you don’t want to attract haters or trolls. Maybe the thought of earning more money than you can handle gives you that uneasy feeling.
Bring this uneasy feeling to the forefront. Acknowledge them as fears. You can’t overcome these issues if you’re not allowing yourself to acknowledge them.
Knowledge is power. It’s safe for you to acknowledge your fears and give yourself the power to overcome them.
You can grow from a place of peace by overcoming your money blocks. It’s safe for you to overcome your money blocks.
